Kapton Alternative Polyimide Tapes: High-Temperature Performance for Precision Applications
All Tapes Depot® ATD-KPT-1 and ATD-KPT-2 are alternative polyimide electrical-grade tapes coated with a high-performance silicone adhesive. They are designed for demanding high-temperature manufacturing applications, including wave soldering and hot-air leveling.
These tapes provide excellent tear and abrasion resistance at elevated temperatures and leave minimal residue when removed after the manufacturing process. Their gold/amber transparent polyimide film allows observation of the board during processing.
ATD-KPT-1 and ATD-KPT-2 are designed to protect gold contacts from molten solder during hot-air wave-solder leveling and provide resistance to acids, oils, solvents, aging, staining, and water immersion.
Both ATD-KPT-1 and ATD-KPT-2 have a verified temperature resistance of 200°C (392°F) for 30 minutes. Selection between the two products should be based on the required film thickness, total tape thickness, adhesion, tensile strength, elongation, dielectric strength, and application requirements.
